The Government has allocated $1.07 million for the repairing of bridges and upgrade of roads in the Olosara and Kavanagasau areas in Sigatoka.

The need for repairing and upgrade was through the visit of the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama to the farmers of Sigatoka recently where issues were raised of standing canes and inaccessibility.

The Permanent Secretary for Provincial Development, Multiethnic Affairs and Sugar Manasa Vaniqi said the money is released from the sugar fund and the upgrade work would be carried out by PWD.

He said there are five bridges to be repaired and also roads that previously were not accessible. He said farmers would now be relieved to transport their cane effectively.
