A court order is not in effect unless it is served on the parties concerned.
The Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum maintains that the interim government has not breached any court order as they are still not aware of an order issued yesterday which stops the deportation of Fiji Sun Publisher and Managing Director Russel Hunter.
Sayed-Khaiyum said they are yet to be served.
Chief Registrar Emosi Koroi confirmed to Village News that Judge Justice Jiten Singh gave his ruling, and the order was then perfected, signed and sealed and delivered to Hunter's lawyer Suruj Sharma yesterday morning.
Koroi said he is not aware if the court order had reached the Nadi Airport in time to stop Hunter's deportation. He also stresses that it is not the responsibility of the High Court to serve documents.
Hunter's lawyer Suruj Sharma when contacted on the matter referred all questions to the Fiji Sun.
Meanwhile, the management of Fiji Sun has sought clarification from Immigration Director Viliame Naupoto on the real reasons behind the deportation of their publisher and Managing Director Russel Hunter.
Acting Publisher Samisoni Kakaivalu said they are not satisfied with the reasons given by Commander Naupoto and the Interim Defense Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau.
Kakaivalu said no decision has also been made on whether they will take further legal actions.
Hunter was deported yesterday after being declared a Prohibited Immigrant for allegedly breaching his visa conditions.
