Govt Not Bound to Occupy Buildings
Permanent Secretary for Public Service Taina Tagicakibau told Village News that they are not legally bound to occupy these buildings but they are exploring the options to ensure the provincial councils do not suffer.
Tagicakibau also told Village News earlier that even though the Interim Health Minister is saying that his ministry will not rent the Namosi House, they may look at other ministries to rent the building so that this will enable the Namosi Development Committee to pay back the loan it owes to the commercial bank.
She said the PSC knows that the loan was given on the understanding that the government would rent the office space.
She also said the PSC circular she gave last week did not include the Namosi and Kadavu House.
Meanwhile, Kadavu House Development Committee Chairman, Ratu Sela Nanovo said the PSC has confirmed to them that the Attorney General’s offices will soon be based at Kadavu House located on Victoria Parade.
