Digicel Fiji Sevens Coach Iliesa Tanivula will not chase the services of Japan based William Ryder for the defense of the Melrose Cup.
Ryder was named in the 24-man squad on Saturday but is thought to have pulled out citing injury to his leg suffered during the Marist Sevens tournament over the weekend.
Coach Iliesa Tanivula said Ryder was given a second chance by the selectors when he failed to play for the Fiji Warriors team but featured for Waisale Serevi's Lomaiviti side.
Tanivula said Ryder has a few problems but his departure won't affect his plans as there are many other players who can take his place in the team.
Tanivula said they are expected to announce the final 12-member squad to Dubai by this afternoon after the fitness Test this morning.
The Fiji Sevens players will have their fitness test today at 10am at the Rabuka Gymnasium.
