Didier Drogba has declared the 0 0 draw with Portugal "a good start" as he came on as a substitute for Ivory Coast after suffering a broken arm in the build up to the World Cup.

Drogba who was granted permission by world governing body FIFA to play in the World Cup while wearing a cast to protect his fractured arm came on as a 65th minute substitute in Ivory Coast's first group G match against Portugal.

The Chelsea forward's involvement had been in doubt after suffering the injury in a friendly against Japan on 4 June, but his recovery has gone well.

He said he was confident in being involved in the game where they were unlucky not to come away with a win.
