Good news for all the lorry drivers who are preparing for this year's cane crushing season, as they will now have to pay the wheel tax and road user levy for only nine months and not for the whole year.

This after the Sugar Cane Growers Council, the Commissioner Western and a representative from the Fiji Sugar Corporation met with Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

SCGC chief executive Sundresh Chetty said they informed the Prime Minister on the difficulties the lorry drivers are facing as they have to pay a substantial amount of money for the road user levy and wheel tax.

He said the Prime Minister then directed the Land Transport Authority to give lorry drivers enough time to pay the road user levy and also that they are charged the road user levy for only nine months.
