Good news for people staying in the rural areas as the government threshold for rural electrification contribution by scheme members has been reduced from 10% to 5%.

Permanent Secretary for Works Anand Kumar said that about 95% of the total is paid by government.

He said there will be payment of $3.5 million to the Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) by the Department of Energy for the many pending schemes and they may also engage contractors for this effect via the tender process.
