The Nadi Weather office had confirmed that the Eastern parts of Viti Levu including Monasavu have received a good amount of rainfall in the past few days.

Duty Forecasters said from Friday up until yesterday there had been over 130 millimeters of rainfall recorded in Monasavu. Between Friday and Saturday there was 98 millimeters and between Saturday and Sunday there was 34 millimeters of rain recorded.

The Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) had earlier raised concern about the decreasing water level at the Monasavu Dam and had asked some businesses to produce their own electricity.

Meanwhile, heavier rainfall has been forecast for today and tomorrow for Suva, Nausori, Tailevu and other Eastern parts of Viti Levu and Labasa.

People living in low lying areas have been urged to take precautions as continues heavy downpour may cause flash flooding.
