Digicel Fiji 7s winger Vereniki Goneva is eyeing the opening leg of the IRB 7s in Dubai and George as a chance to show the selectors he is ready to fill the vacuum left by former speedsters Sireli Bobo, Marika Vunibaka and Filimoni Delasau.

The Nadi 15s rugby captain was part of the Fiji team that lost to New Zealand in both the finals of Dubai and George last year and this time around he is looking to avenge those two losses.

Goneva said a lot will be on his shoulders to prove he has the speed that Fiji wingers are renowned for.

Meanwhile, today the Fiji 7s team visited the Children’s Ward at the CWM hospital.

Manager Jope Tuivanuavou said the players were emotional to know how much it means to these children for them to do well in the battle field.
