Gold galore for Team Fiji
Niko Verekauta is now the Sprint King of the Pacific Mini Games after winning the 100 metres finals this afternoon.
Verekauta clocked a time of 10.59 seconds to beat fellow team mate Banuve Tabakaucoro who took the silver medal with a time of 10.68 seconds.
Mataiasi Savou missed out on the bronze medal after finishing on the 4th place.
In the womens division Makelesi Bulikiobo remains on track to win 5 gold medals after winning the 100 metres final with a time of 11.97 seconds.
Earlier this afternoon, as expected Fiji dominated the 800 metres finals in both the womens and mens division.
Australian based Kavita Maharaj won Fiji's first gold in the 800 metres when she came home first in a time of 2 minutes 18 seconds.
The bronze medal also went to Salote Naiula.
In the mens 800 meters event, Lomary Secondary School's Varasiko Tomeru grabbed Fiji's second gold medal with a time of 1 minute 55 seconds.
Kolinio Qarau walked away with the Octathlon gold medal for Fiji.
Team Fiji is now leading the Mini Pacific Games medal tally with 5 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
In other sports the Fiji mens touch rugby team beat Niue 7-4 but the womens team went down 4-2 to the hosts.
Golf was postponed to tomorrow due to bad weather.
Bowling has also been delayed as the players are having a hard time getting used to the surface which is wet and flooded in some parts.
Just looking at the medal tally Fiji leads with 5 gold and 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Soloman Islands is in second place with 2 gold while Tonga also has 2 gold.
New Caledonia is next with 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
