Gloucester Rugby's medics are waiting for the imminent return of new signing Seru Rabeni after he was injured on international duty for the Flying Fijians.

The former Leicester centre is understood to be suffering with an abscee on his shin, ruling him out of the end of Fiji's IRB Pacific Nations Cup campaign.

But until the Kingsholm medical team has had a chance to assess the Fiji skipper, there will be no announcement on the length of time he could face out.

The situation is reminiscent of this time last year when open side Akapusi Qera was crocked playing in the same competition.

New head coach Bryan Redpath will have his fingers crossed that Rabeni return fit for the new season.
