Gloucester has terminated their move for Flying Fijians centre Seru Rabeni.

The side announced the former Leicester back’s signing at the end of last season, pending a medical test.

But the 30-year-old Rabeni suffered a knee injury while playing in the IRB Pacific Nations Cup in June, and has not been passed fit for the new season.

Gloucester chairman Tom Walkinshaw said Rabeni's part of the agreement was that he passed a medical and a fitness test, which he couldn't do, and that is why they didn't sign him.

Rabeni has suffered from knee problems in the past but Walkinshaw explained that his latest injury was an entirely new injury and one that would keep him out of action for some time.
