National Federation Party's General Secretary believes those people who are convicted of treason and have spent their time in prison should be given a chance to contest the elections.
Pramod Rae said while his party may not want a convicted person coming into a leadership position, other political parties however can give them a chance to contest in the elections if they qualify.
Meanwhile, Deposed Opposition leader Mick Beddoes has shared similar sentiments saying those who have served their time in prison should be given a chance and some political parties may include them in their parties.
Ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase said earlier this week that convicted criminals who have served their time should be allowed to hold public office as it is their constitutional right.
Pacific Centre for Public Interiority Director, Angie Heffernan agrees with these sentiments.
