Girl fights for life after accident
The girl was with her 36 year old mother, who was also hit and who died instantly.
Regional Traffic Officer Western ASP Peter Ledua confirmed the girl is still unconscious and is in the ICU unit after she was rushed from Rakiraki to Lautoka Hospital last night with extensive internal bleeding.
Both mother and daughter were hit by the four wheel drive when walking along the road in Wairuku.
According to Police, the driver allegedly lost control of his four wheel which caused the accident.
The 26 year old driver is expected to be charged later today.
In another accident, three truck drivers escaped serious injury after they were involved in an accident in Varavu, Ba yesterday afternoon.
Ledua said the two cane trucks loaded with cane were making a right turn in Varavu when a truck carrying close to 20 tonnes of cement hit them from the back.
The cane trucks were forced into the cane fields as a result. Two of the drivers were treated at the Ba hospital for minor injuries.
