A 14 year old girl is dead after she was hit by a car while waiting for her school bus this morning along Khalsa road in Newtown.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra confirmed the driver of the car has been taken into custody and charges are expected to be laid this afternoon.
SSP Mishra said the driver lost control of the car and it veered off the road hitting the girl.
The girl died instantly while her 10 year old brother received serious injuries and has been admitted at the CWM hospital.
The national road death toll now stands at 22 compared to 25 for the same period last year.
