An Auckland based Fiji pro-democracy group said that New Zealand cannot afford to wait until a Pacific Islands Forum leaders meeting convenes next month to get talks underway to resolve the diplomatic problem with Fiji.

The Spokesperson for Auckland based Coalition for Democracy in Fiji, Nik Naidu said efforts should be made to get dialogue going now, instead of waiting until the meeting at the end of January.

Naidu told Radio New Zealand that Fiji might not turn up to the Forum if talks do not continue in the meantime.
