People are more than willing to stand up and help themselves especially when the government of the day is supportive of their needs.

The People's Community Network said this is evident with the 162 families who are part of the Lagilagi Pilot Project at Jittu Estate.

The Lagilagi Project which was launched last week, will see a partnership between 162 families and the PCN, whereby the families pay half the cost of the construction of their home, with the other half funded by a German Catholic funding group called Misereor and government.

PCN director Semiti Qalowasa said part of the funding from Misereor and government will go towards the purchase of a piece of land to be owned communally.
