There are revelations from the Public Works Department that many of their pump stations are without generators as some areas are too big to cater for.

Speaking to FijiVillage this afternoon, Divisional Water Engineer Central/Eastern, Sereicocoko Yanuyanurua says they are hoping policy makers and those in authority secure funds soon in order for the Department to be able to ensure all their pump stations have back-up power supply.

This follows a water disruption experienced by residents living around Tacirua Heights, Sakoca, Savutalele, Tacirua village and Tamavua 6 miles after FEA transformer at the Tamavua water station blew up yesterday morning.

Yanuyanurua said that they are relying on the power supply from FEA as it is not a disruptive supply. He added that once funds are available they will ensure large capacity generators are installed in those areas that have a high population density.
