The Highlanders wing Hosea Gear has spurned an offer from Japanese rugby to remain in New Zealand and fight to reclaim his All Blacks jersey.

The 28-year-has turned down an offer from the Toshiba club and said he will likely play for the Highlanders again next year.

Gear said he has not heard if he will be called into the second All Blacks training camp for the injured Cory Jane but said he wants to stay in New Zealand and fight for a place in the squad.

Highlanders will face the Blues on Saturday at 7.35pm.

Meanwhile, in the lone match tomorrow Chiefs will take on the Bulls at 7.35pm.
