Hosea Gear has not been quite impressive this year.
This was one of the reasons the rugged winger was not included in the All Blacks training squad for the upcoming test matches.
Gear moved from the Hurricanes to the Highlanders this year, while he has made many running metres as any wing in the competition, tries have been harder to come by and it was no surprise to Gear when his name was missing from the squad.
Gear is expected to feature again for the Highlanders when they face the Bulls at 5:30pm this Saturday.
On Friday the Hurricanes will meet the Brumbies at 7:35pm.
