Chief Justice Anthony Gates is expected to meet with Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama later today in relation to the treatment of Fiji's judges by the governments of Australia and New Zealand.

Chief Justice Gates has raised serious concern that the two governments are making decisions in relation to travel ban restrictions for judges.

He stressed the governments should understand that the judicial appointments in Fiji are made by the President, not the government.

Chief Justice Gates maintained that this is how the events transpired in relation to Justice Anjala Wati when she applied for the visa to take a 22 month old child for urgent eye surgery.
