This is in light of claims made by Mark One Apparel Managing Director, Mark Hallabe that garment industry workers will receive half of the 20% wage increase rate tomorrow, with the other half following in the next six months.
Hallabe added the Wages Council is aware of this and the workers should be educated on this.
However, Wages Council Chairman Father Kevin Bar clarified that this split of the wage increase for the garment industry was the deal made for the implementation of the wage rate in February before the deferment to July 1st.
Bar said this split in wage increase does not apply now adding the 20% wage increase must come into effect tomorrow.
