Ganilau Urges Govt to Observe Earth Hour
That's the message from Bernadette Rounds Ganilau, the former minister for Environment and President of Women Entrepreneurs Fiji.
In a press conference organized by the World Wide Fund this morning, Ganilau stressed that "Earth Hour" is not only about switching off the lights on the 29th of this month for one hour but an attempt to show the bigger countries that Fiji being a small Pacific Island Country cares about its environment and is concerned about climate change.
Ganilau said she has had a meeting with the Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama about the earth hour and has urged the Interim government to take a step towards reducing the City's greenhouse gas pollution by turning off the unnecessary lights for an hour in all government departments.
Meanwhile, Police Patrolling will be tight from 8pm for an hour in Suva during the Earth Hour.
