A gale warning remains in force for Western Viti Levu from Ba to Sigatoka, the Yasawas, Mamanuca group and nearby smaller islands.

Nadi weather office confirms Tropical Cyclone Gene was located 18 decimal 0 South, 176 decimal 0 East or about 150km West of Nadi at 1pm today. The cyclone is now moving West-South-West at about 13km/h but is expected to turn West-North-West in the next six to 12 hours. The cyclone is intensifying slowly.

On this track the cyclone center is expected to lie about 240 km West of Nadi at 6pm today and about 350 km West of Nadi at midnight.

Director Rajendra Prasad said the cyclone is expected to gain more strength as it moves away from the group.
