Chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs Special Taskforce Ratu Tu'uakitau Cokanauto stresses that their mandate is to clearly outline the role the Chiefly Body plays in the welfare of the Indigenous Fijians and the nation.
At a press conference this afternoon, Cokanauto highlighted that the review being undertaken will ensure the survival of the GCC with the changing times.
He stressed that the Special Task Force is not mandated to make changes to the Fijian Affairs Great Council of Chiefs Act.
Ratu Tuakitau said they will ensure that indigenous Fijians from all hierarchies are consulted on their views of the role of the GCC.
