The case filed by terminated GCC members, Ratu Ovini Bokini and Ratu Sakiusa Makutu against the Interim Fijian Affairs Minister and the Attorney General regarding the termination of the GCC membership was called in the Suva High Court this morning.

Lawyer representing the former GCC members, Savenaca Komaisavai submitted amended affidavits and State counsel, Solicitor General Christopher Pryde has asked for time to reply.

Judge Justice Davendra Pathik also informed the lawyers that he has invited the Fiji Human Rights Commission to be a third party in the case as is normal practise to assist the courts if the need arises.

The case will be called again for mention on Monday August 27th.

Meanwhile, Komaisavai also confirmed that they are yet to apply for an injunction in relation to the establishment of the GCC Special Task force to review the chiefly body. He said he needs to consult his client further before deciding when to file for the injunction.
