The Great Council of Chiefs review team believes that the decision of the chiefs of the Bose Vanua of Tailevu to reject the GCC review and the People's Charter is the political agenda of some of the chiefs of Tailevu.
GCC review team Secretary, Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo said they have records with them that show all of the 22 chiefs who were present on the day gave their support to the GCC review team to carry out their work.
Ratu Nawalowalo added that Bau chief, Adi Samanunu Cakobau gave her chiefly blessing to the GCC review and urged the chiefs of Tailevu to show their support as it is time to move ahead.
Yesterday, the Komai Nausori and Chairman of the Tailevu Bose Vanua, Ratu Meli Baleinaivalu said the 22 chiefs from the various Tikina have rejected the two proposals, after obtaining legal advice on the matter.
Meanwhile Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama said the proposals like the People's Charter and the GCC review will open up opportunities for all the people of the country rather than a selected few.
Bainimarama believes that the chiefs are rejecting the proposals because they are now worried about their positions.
