The Vice chairman of the Naitasiri Provincial Council, Solomoni Naivalu has questioned the GCC Taskforce as to why a cabinet Minister has been given the task as the “appointing authority" for members of the Great Council of Chiefs instead of the Provincial Councils.

While speaking at the Naitasiri Provincial council meeting in Vunidawa today, Naivalu stressed that such powers could allow the Minister responsible to appoint anyone or any other race as a members of the GCC and the Naitasiri chiefs are greatly concern over this fact.

Meanwhle, earlier today Naitasiri Provincial Council members questioned the GCC Review Committee Chairman, Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo why they want their views now when the new GCC regulation is already gazettes.

Newly appointed Naitasiri Provincial Council Chairman Ilaitia Tuisese said they were disappointed that their first submission given to Ratu Tuakitau Cokonauto was not taken into account.
