The Tui Macuata said the Great Council of Chiefs needs to sit as soon as possible to ensure that the nation moves forward.
Ratu Aisea Katonivere said the call by the GCC Review Taskforce that the GCC needed to sit to appoint a Vice President should be taken into account.
He said Fiji needs to move forward.
Meanwhile, the Great Council of Chiefs Taskforce has raised concern about the health of his Excellency the President, the Tui Vuda Ratu Josefa Iloilo.
Chairman GCC Taskforce, Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo has reiterated their stand to the chiefs and provincial councils for the GCC to reconvene as soon as possible.
Nawalowalo said despite negative comments from political commentators, the GCC's role is to appoint the President and Vice President of the Republic of Fiji. Nawalowalo said the GCC should sit and first appoint a Vice President to assist the Turaga na Tui Vuda on all matters with regards to the good governance of the indigenous people, their welfare, needs and aspirations.
The Secretary to the President, Rupeni Nacewa is yet to comment on the issue.
