The Interim Fijian Affairs Minister stresses that the planned meeting of the Great Council of Chiefs in Bau next week will not be recognised by the interim administration.
As reports continue to emerge that Ratu Ovini Bokini and Savenaca Komaisavai are planning to have the meeting on the chiefly island, Interim Minister, Ratu Epeli Ganilau said any GCC meeting has to be gazette and that will not be done.
He also said the GCC falls under the Fijian Affairs regulation and is not a body operated by the members of the council.
Meanwhile lawyer Savenaca Komaisavai said they have been invited by Bau Chief, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau to have their meeting on the island if they do not have a venue in Suva.
Komaisavai added that the agenda for the meeting is being prepared. Ratu Ovini is expected to comment later today.
