There are further revelations this hour in relation to the cancellation of the MSG Plus meeting in Fiji next week with confirmation that there was a worry that the meeting could have overshadowed the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum which scheduled to be held in Vanuatu next month.

New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister, Murray McCully, said this prompted the meeting's cancellation.

The meeting in Fiji, dubbed MSG   Plus and set to also involve countries from Polynesia and Micronesia, was scuttled on Monday by the MSG chair, Vanuatu's Prime Minister, Edward Natapei.

McCulley has also told Radio NZ that he met with Natapei at the beginning of the month.

He said the Vanuatu leader also wanted to ensure that the balance was right between the MSG meeting and the Forum summit.
