Police are conducting further investigations into an incident where a man fell off a motorcycle during a trial run at a car rally at the Deuba airstrip yesterday.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said organizers should ensure all safety procedures are followed.
He added police will conduct its main function to protect life and property, as stated in Section 5 of Police Act cap 85.
According to Mishra, all stakeholders should work together to ensure future incidents do not occur.
Mishra said police only provided security outside the premises.
Fiji Car Club president Jack Reddy said all safety precautions are taken before the car rally and they also secured a permit.
Reddy said the incident may have been caused by the driver’s mistake.
Police said the motor cyclist received serious head and body injuries and is admitted at the Navua Hospital.
