The price of fuel is expected to increase within the next few weeks.
Based on the devaluation of the Fiji dollar by 20 percent, there is a likelihood that the price of diesel, unleaded fuel, pre-mix and kerosene will increase by 20 percent.
The Prices and Incomes Board has refused to reveal the exact date when fuel prices will increase however we expect the new prices by June.
Fuel imports totaled $1.2 billion last year and there are repeated calls for the import bill to be reduced by reducing fuel consumption.
The import bill will increase if the consumption remains the same as last year as the fuel price will increase.
