The increasing cost of fuel prices is a serious concern for the Maritime Provinces and those in the rural areas.
Chairman of the Kadavu Provincial Council Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo is suggesting that the interim government look into the matter seriously although fuel prices are beyond the states control.
Ratu Nawalowalo said boat owners will have to dig deeper and consumers may suffer after an increase of 14 cents on the Premix Outboard Fuel which will now cost $2.03 per litre.
Meanwhile, the Interim Minister for Transport is expected to make some announcements later today as petrol prices increase significantly from this morning.
As stakeholders in the transport industry are keeping their fingers crossed for some relief from the state, Manu Korovulavula confirmed that he will make a statement on the matter later today.
