The Consumer Council of Fiji is concerned at the misunderstanding by the announcement made by the Prices and Incomes Board on the increase in petrol prices.
Chief Executive Officer, Premila Kumar said complaints have been received that petrol stations have instantly increased their fuel prices, not following the PIB release, that their prices should increase only when they buy new stock.
Kumar said that the PIB should have a monitoring system in place every time there is a fuel increase.
When Village News contacted PIB, PIB Officer Biutiviti Biulailai said that they will try to clarify the issue with the Consumer Council before commenting.
