The increase in fuel price will affect the Bus Industry in a bad way.

These are the words of the General Secretary of Fiji Bus Operators Association, Rohit Latchan who said they are currently addressing the issue with the Minister for Transport and the Land Transport Authority.

Latchan said it will be too early to elaborate on the issue yet.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Taxi Union had a meeting with the LTA's Chief Executive Officer, Etuate Koroi this morning about its submission for taxi fare increase after the price of unleaded fuel increased to $1.96 a litre while Diesel price now costs $1.58 per litre which is an increase of 15 cents.

Union's General Secretary Rishi Ram said the meeting has been very fruitful however he refused to divulge any more information.

LTA is expected to release a media statement on the issue by this afternoon.

Fuel prices increased from today due to full impact of the April 2009 devaluation and the change to cleaner diesel.
