The Interim Finance Minister said today's increase in fuel price is out of government's hands and the blame should not be placed on them.

Mahendra Chaudhry has defended the interim government saying they have nothing to do with the increase in prices saying it is based on a template that decides whether prices should be increased or decreased.

The Fiji Consumers Association is currently meeting with the Prices and Incomes Board to seek answers behind the massive increase in fuel prices which have come into effect from this morning.

Association General Secretary Paras Sukul said the prices just went up without any warning being given and the Association wants to know why the fuel price reviews for the past two months were withheld, which has led to such huge increases.
