26-year-old Alvind Pravin Singh appeared in a special court sitting at the Suva Magistrates Court this morning, charged with 11 counts of obtaining money by false pretence and 9 counts of forgery.

The Police Prosecutor submitted in court that the accused be remanded in custody, and a plea be deferred to next week since police are still questioning him on various charges which involve more than $41,000 regarding the VISA scam.

However, his lawyer Iqbhal Khan objected to this saying that his client's plea should be taken today since he has already been charged and the police prosecution objected to bail.

However, Magistrate Aminiasi Katonivualiku refused bail and remanded Singh in custody for the case to be heard again next Wednesday.

The court also heard he has similar case pending in court.
