Green Moon won the Melbourne Cup, making up for its disappointing seventh place in last month’s Cox Plate.
It is the fourth victory for owner Lloyd Williams in the Cup, his other winners being Just A Dash in 1981, What A Nuisance in 1985 and Efficient in 2007.
Jockey Brett Prebble was riding in his 10th cup and flew in from Hong Kong for the race.
Prebble said he was never going to be beaten.
Fiorente came in second while Jackellberry was third.
Meanwhile, favorites Dunaden came 11th while Americain finished 14th.
