Four way battle for blue ribbon
Marist Brothers High School's Banuve Tabakaucoro will start as the favourite in his first year as senior while his challenge will come from senior boys 100 metres defending champion Mataiasi Savou of Suva Grammar, new find Nikotimo Radiva of Sila Central College and Isoa Me of Lelean.
They all will be out to break the 17-year-old record currently held by Viliame Nasuku of Q.V.S with a time of 10.74 seconds.
Tabakaucoro holds the fastest time with 10.60 seconds which was recorded last year when he won the intermediate boys final.
Radiva during the Triple N Zone clocked a time of 10.66 seconds while Savou who came in second to Tabakaucoro during the Suva Zone 2, ran in the official time of 10.84 seconds.
Another interesting battle will also be among the three top athletics coaches where Tabakaucoro is trained by current National Athletics Coach Bola Tafou, Savou is getting help from former sprint champion Jone Delai while Radiva has the services of John Lum Kon.
Meanwhile former National athletics rep, Jovesa Naivalu who also ran with Delai and Lum Kon said this year's 100 metres race will be hotly contested.
Naivalu also has a message to all the athletes, that they should have a proper diet on the day of the competition.
The Coca Cola Games will be held on Friday and Saturday at the tfl National Stadium.
