Good news for about 1,000 families as the Fiji Water Foundation has presented grants to eight water and education projects totaling $243,800 throughout Fiji.

Fiji Water's Director of External Affairs David Roth said the Foundation is committed to improving the lives of people throughout Fiji.

He said issues in Fiji are manageable and all the problems can be solved as long as it is addressed.

He said grants have been given to Nabitu District School to install piping, tanks and water reticulation systems as well as provide desks and chairs to replace their 50 year old furniture.

The school serves 255 students from 7 villages.

The Navala Catholic School Hostel will construct a 25 bed dorm for students living in a remote area of Ba with the grant while Daku Bhartiya School will be installing a borehole with piping and holding tanks for 210 students.

Bureivanua District School will renovate its dining Hall, Villa Maria Settlement in Taveuni will be upgrading the spring box providing the settlements only source of water and install piping, tanks and water reticulation systems.

The Saivou District School in Ra Province has been given the opportunity to construct a new classroom to replace class 7 and 8 that was built 70 years ago with the grant of $25,000 while a new Kindergarten will be built for Malomalo Primary School and the funding will be matched by the Intercontinental Hotel, Natadola.

Fiji Water Foundation will also provide clean water to 300 rural families in the Province of Navosa that has recently been badly affected by the Typhoid outbreak.
