The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat is yet to receive an official letter to inform them of the decision taken by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama that Fiji will withdraw from the Pacific trade agreements PICTA and PACER.

Media Liaison Officer at the Forum Secretariat in Suva, Johnson Honemae said they cannot comment on the matter and all queries on Fiji's withdrawal has to be directed to the Chairman of the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

The Secretary General of the Tuiloma Slade could not be reached for a comment as he is currently on leave and returns to Fiji on August 22nd.

The decision to withdraw from the trade agreement talks came after the Pacific Islands Leaders decided that Fiji will not be directly included in the talks following its suspension from the Forum.

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd stated earlier that Fiji will only be kept informed of the developments.
