With a day to go for the special Pacific Islands Leaders Forum, the NZ media is reporting that all indications are that the Forum Foreign Ministers Contact Group unanimously rejected Commodore Bainimarama's claim that he cannot hold the elections without first reforming the electoral system.

The Forum leaders gather in PNG tomorrow to discuss the only item on the agenda and that is about Fiji and when it can have elections after Bainimarama said that he cannot have elections in March this year.

All the forum leaders will be in Port Moresby except Fiji's leader, Commodore Bainimarama.

Stuff.com is reporting that one option might be to stop short of suspending Fiji from the forum altogether, instead excluding it from some of the bodies and programmes it runs.

However there is another meeting planned on Valentines Day in Fiji, which Commodore Bainimarama will attend.
