Forum Countries Losing Patience
Radio Australia reports that the Niue Premier and Pacific Islands Forum Chair Toke Talagi said he's concerned by the failure of Fiji's interim government to hold elections.
Speaking to the Pacific Beat program, Talagi said a number of the Forum member countries have lost patience with Fiji's Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama refusing to set a date for the next General Election.
The program reports Talagi said he does not want to harp on about the matter but Bainimarama had given his word and at the moment it is difficult to understand why he believes he can back out from that word, adding that now it would be very hard for them to determine whether Bainimarama is going to keep his word again.
The report said Talagi has confirmed that a special Forum meeting to discuss progress being made by Fiji will take place in Papua New Guinea on January 27th next year.
Meanwhile, the interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama had stressed that general elections will not be held before 2010 adding elections will be held 15 months after all their work is complete and that needs to be understood by everyone.
