The former accounts officer with the Water Rates Office who was charged with one count of abuse of office was today discharged by the Suva High Court.
It was alleged that on 13th December 2003, Usaia Daunivalu withdrew $300,343 dollars outstanding water charges for water meter number KJ2710, the account of CIG Fiji Limited without the approval of the Minister for Finance.
Judge Justice Sitabarampillai Thurairaja ordered the discharge of Daunivalu and vacated the trial that was scheduled from 27th September to 1st October 2010 after FICAC prosecutor informed the court that after discussions for Pre Trial Conference, FICAC had decided to enter a Nolle Prosequi.
Defense Counsel, Semi Ditoko did not raise any objections and requested that Judge Justice Thurairaja issue a ruling on the matter.
