Former Post Fiji Executives plead not guilty
Former Chairman Mahendra Patel, former Managing Director Peni Mau and former Manager Finance Dhirendra Pratap appeared before Judge Justice Daniel Gounder.
All three are charged with 2 counts of abuse of office, one count of extortion by public officers, one count of aiding and abetting abuse of office, false certification by public servant and one count of conspiracy to defraud.
On these charges, FICAC has alleged that Peni Mau had approved the payment of $75,000 for purchase of an external Seiko Clock for Post Fiji building without following proper tender procedures while Patel had allowed the purchase of the Seiko Clock from Prouds, a company owned by him and that he failed to disclose his interest and relationship with the company.
Peni Mau and Dhirendra Pratap are also charged with one count of Extortion and one count of Abuse of Office which has been consolidated where it is alleged that Mau approved a payment for reward of duty to Pratap without following proper procedures and without the Post Fiji Board's approval.
Their bail has been extended and the case is adjourned to June 1st for mention.
