With just a few days remaining for the first round of talks between the political party leaders and the interim government, the Interim Prime Minister has hit out at former Prime Ministers, Sitiveni Rabuka and Laisenia Qarase for bringing a lot of trouble to Fiji and its people.
In an exclusive interview with Fijivillage News, Commodore Frank Bainimarama has sent a message to Rabuka, Qarase and Nationalist Party's Iliesa Duvuloco to stop grandstanding that they have served Fiji for a long time as the politicians have failed the people of the country.
Commodore Bainimarama also said Qarase should stop talking about the elections in March 2009. He said if Qarase wants to talk about that issue, then he should not attend Monday's meeting at the parliament complex.
General Secretary for the Party of National Unity Meli Bogileka said they will follow the directive issued by the Interim Prime Minister to have talks revolve around the interim government's vision through the People's Charter.
Bogileka said they will abide by the directive and have no intention of attending the meeting with demands on what they want.
He said PANU however will be bringing issues which they think could be improved in the Charter.
Another Political Party has accepted the invitation from Commodore Frank Bainimarama to engage in talks next Monday.
The General Voters Party said it accepted the invitation in view of moving the country forward.
National Secretary, John Sanday said its time Political leaders start to engage in constructive talks as it will only benefit Fiji.
So far The SDL, National Federation Party, Conservative Alliance Matanitu Vanua, National Alliance Party, the Party of National Unity, the SVT and The Nationalist Vanua Tako Lavo Party have confirmed their participation for the upcoming meeting. The Fiji Labour Party is yet to confirm whether they will attend.
