A Former Minister, who is alleged to have been involved in $100,000 worth of illegal logging in Seaqaqa, is under police investigation.

Divisional Crime Officer Northern, ASP Luke Rawalai confirms the former Minister allegedly obtained licenses under his name and with the help of some businesspeople sold pine logs worth between $80,000 to $100,000.

Rawalai said they are now in the process of obtaining various documents from relevant authorities after which the former Minister is expected to be questioned.

ASP Rawalai said they have also identified some saw mill owners in the North who allegedly helped the former Minister in the illegal logging.

Rawalai adds the Minister did not have the powers to obtain the licence under his name.
