Charges against a former assistant minister are expected to be laid soon for allegedly obtaining more than $75,000 from a number of people in return of giving them a place at the Fiji School of Nursing.

Labasa Police have confirmed that a team of detectives will travel to Viti Levu to lay charges against the former Assistant Minister.

The former assistant Minister was questioned and released by police a few months ago and his file was sent to the DPP's office for assessment.

He is also alleged to have obtained goats, cash and other items from some parents who wanted their children to given a place at the FSN.

Two other people who acted as his agent in collecting the money are also expected to be charged soon.
