A Former Minister is under Police investigation who is alleged to have been involved in $100,000 worth of illegal logging in Seaqaqa.

Divisional Crime Officer Northern, ASP Luke Rawalai confirms the former Minister allegedly obtained license under his name and
with the help of some business people sold pine loggs worth between $80 to $100,000.

Rawalai said they are now in the process of obtaining various documents from relevant authorities after which the former Minister is expected to be questioned.

ASP Rawali said they have also identified some saw mill owners in North who allegedly helped the former Minister in the illegal logging.

Rawalai adds the Minister didn’t have powers to obtain license under his names.
